LAURA JO

Hello!

My name is Laura Jo Alexander and I’m a Minnesota based filmmaker with a love for storytelling through cinematography and editing.

I started this journey during college where I was exposed and challenged in every step of the creative process; from producing, directing, editing and filming. I soon decided to zero in on cinematography and editing through a film Water Lily and my senior capstone project Toilet Toast, which is currently running the festival circuit.

Throughout my time at Minnesota State University Moorhead, I helped in the camera department on various short films, interned for the athletic program as a production assistant and editor and dabbled in freelance videography.

As I continue to grow as a creative individual, I want to always remember why I started: to evoke emotion.

When I watch a movie or a video, I want to feel something. It doesn’t matter if I leave crying, angry, or laughing so hard I can’t breathe. I want to feel something, I want to be fully immersed in the story. And those films, those videos that evoke strong emotion are the ones I want to create.

It doesn’t matter if its a short film, a feature, live broadcasts, or creating content for brands, I want to make people feel and remember moments and film/video is the perfect medium to do so.
